If any city in the world can put together an exhilarating Halloween celebration, it is Los Angeles. As the beating heart of the film industry, LA teems with horror film paraphernalia, world-class popular entertainment, and a devotion to brilliantly terrifying set design. From exhibits to performances to hayrides, there’s something for everyone in these weeks leading up to Halloween. Here are some of our favorite Halloween picks:
Los Angeles Haunted Hayride:
You never know when the Boogeyman will pop out and frighten you on this Haunted Hayride. With stops at five haunted areas, this trip through a macabre landscape is not for the faint-hearted. You may get lost and abandoned in a maze, or trapped in Purgatory. This 25-minute experience is more disturbing, dark, and scarier than ever! Hollywood Museum Dungeon of Doom:
With Los Angeles as the epicenter of the horror film genre, the Hollywood Museum has accumulated hundreds of thousands of iconic props and pieces through the years. A tour through this Dungeon of Doom will thrill any film lover. The Dungeon of Doom includes the actual set jail cell from Silence of the Lambs, Boris Karloff’s Mummy, as well as life-sized costumes of cult favorite characters. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Live with Danny Elfman & Orchestra:
Celebrate Halloween this year with a rendition of Tim Burton’s cult classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, performed live with renowned composer Danny Elfman and Orchestra. Dark Harbor – The Queen Mary Haunted Ship:

Boo at the LA Zoo:
This family-friendly event offers all day adventure and exploration, with a Graveyard Safari, a tour through a lair of poisonous frogs and lizards, and a stroll through dim caves and caverns, with nocturnal creatures. Stan Lee’s Comikaze:
If you or your grandkids are lovers of comic books and superheroes, you’re in luck this Halloween. World-famous comics artist Stan Lee (creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, and others) has put together a not-to-be-missed comics art festival, Comikaze, which takes place October 30 to November 1. Now you’ll have two reasons to cosplay – Halloween and a stroll through one of the best superhero comics expos in the country.
