Rancho Los Cerritos Holiday Events
Rancho Los Cerritos, a favorite Southern California historical landmark, celebrates the holidays with three family-friendly events in December. On December 8, have a taste of the past with Holiday Tea, a Victorian-era tea lunch complete with costumed docents, tea, sandwiches, and scones in the dressed up 171-year old adobe house (tickets are $35/person). On December 13, come by for the Old Time Christmas Festival, with crafts, activities, storytellers, and a visit from Santa Claus; at nightfall, the adobe house will be lit up with festive lights and you’ll hear stories of Christmases past on the ranch (admission $5/ticket). On December 15 and December 19, bring your little ones for Cocoa with Santa – the cocoa definitely comes with marshmallows, and the event includes crafts, storytelling, and photos with Santa Claus himself ($10; RSVP required). No holiday is complete without a trip to the ballet to see the gorgeous Nutcracker. By now we all know the story, but for those who haven’t seen it, The Nutcracker is a magical delight and a reminder that during the holidays, anything is possible. Set in the 19th century, the ballet follows the story of young Clara as she travels to magical lands, encounters the Sugarplum Fairy, and protects her beloved Nutcracker from the Mouse King. With music by Peter Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker will run from December 12 to 24 at the Festival Ballet. For tickets, visit http://festivalballet.org/fbt/nutcracker.html
